Scene 10
Setting: Outer space, the pirate ship, and the waiter’s apartment.
Old Man’s Voice: I had seen a pirate ship before, but this was the first time that fear hdid not come upon me.
(Tucker has his arm out, flying in the direction of the pirate ship. The ship is old and
patched.)
Old Man’s Voice: As I began to get closer to the ship, a heavy bolt struck me.
(A beam comes from the ship, striking Tucker. His entire body is in flames.)
Old Man’s Voice: Fire surrounded my body, but only my clothing was burnt. For the first time I noticed that my entire body was circuits and wires. Only my head and hands looked human.
(The ship turns around to flee.)
Old man’s Voice: I determined that fear must have come upon them. Because the ship changed directions, and attempted to speed away. But my speed was greater and I grabbed hold of the ship. I found the hatch that served as the ship’s entrance.
(Tucker goes inside the ship and is met by three dirty men.)
Old Man’s Voice: Three pirates were there to greet me. They began to shoot, but the bullets did no harm. One of the men came forward, but I put my hand out to stop him. Then for the first time, I realized my hands had the power of fire.
1st Pirate: Ahhh! He has burned me!
(The other two grab him and pull him back. They are shaking, and fear is in their eyes.)
2nd Pirate: What do you think this thing could be?
3rd Pirate: He is a demon!
Tucker: I am not a demon. I am an android that was once a man.
2nd Pirate: What do you want?
Tucker: I do not want anything, and I am sorry for burning your friend. All I want is to return to earth,
2nd Pirate: (Looking at the 3rd Pirate.) Take him to the clinic. I will take the android to the Captain.
( 3rd Pirate puts the arm of the 1st Pirate over his back and the two depart. Tucker follows the 2nd Pirate down a dimly lighted hallway. They enter the control room. A man
in his fifties in the only present. He is toothless, scarred face, and sitting in a large chair.)
2nd Pirate: Captain, This being that has entered our ship is an android.
Captain: I see that.(Standing to his feet smiling.) Do you understand me?
Tucker: Yes I do. I am from Earth and was once human. I wish to go home.
Captain: We are outlaws! If I got near Earth, we will be arrested.
Tucker: But let me warn you not go further. If you do, your ship could be destroyed.
2nd Pirate: Captain, We cannot destroy him. We shot him several times. His hand are hot as fire. He burnt Jim very badly.
Old Man’s Voice: The smile left the Captain’s face. He was now afraid.
Tucker: Do not worry Captain. I do not want to hurt anyone. Just grant my request.
Captain: Besides going to earth. Is there anything else you want.
Tucker: Since you burnt my clothing. I may look more human if you gave me some more.
Captain: (Looking at the 2nd Pirate.) Get him some.
Old Man’s Voice: The pirate went over to a locker and passed me a silver jump suit.
2nd Pirate: We have two sets of boots. One pair is red and the other is green.
Old Man’s Voice: I figured the green would always remind me of what took place on the planet of St. Patrick.
Tucker: I will take the green ones. (Looking to the Captain.) All I ask that you get close enough to earth without being seen. I can make it the rest of the way.
Captain: Fair enough. Anything else?
Tucker: I want to tell you my story.
Captain: ( Looking over to the 2nd Pirate.) Leave us.
2nd Pirate: Yes sir.
(Scene fades back to the Waiter’s apartment.)
Old Man: So I told the Captain the story that I have just told you.
Waiter: Did anything else happen before you made it back?
Old Man: Yes it did. And I discovered what I was to do in the years to come.
Scene 11
Setting: The scene has went back inside the pirate ship. It shows the Captain and Tucker seated and facing each other.)
Pirate Captain: Good man, you have been through a lot. I will be happy to take you back to Earth.
(The Pirate Captain puts his hand on the speaker button.)
Pirate Captain: Riggs! Get in here.
Riggs Voice: Yes sir.
(Riggs is the second pirate. He enters the control room.)
Riggs: What can I do for you sir?
Pirate Captain: Riggs, we are going back to Earth.
Riggs: Earth! but sir...
Pirate Captain: (interrupts, raising his arm) Look Riggs. I have heard this good man’s story, and I am deeply touched by it. I am getting old and tired of being an outlaw. I will take the ship no further than Mars. From there we will depart in my personal shuttle. Afterwards the ship is yours.
Riggs: Yes sir.
(The scene shows the pirate ship flying in space. It then fades, and Mars is seen in the background. A small capsule departs from the pirate ship. The scenes fades again, and shows the small capsule headed for Earth. As the scenes are changing, the Old Man
voice narrates.)
Old Man’s Voice: It took us two weeks to reach Mars. The Captain and I departed in his shuttle to Earth. When we landed at the port in New York, I vanished. And the Pirate Captain turned himself over to the authorities
( The scene goes back to the Waiter’s apartment.)
Waiter: Sir, your story is interesting. But how can it help me?
Old Man: My friend, Don’t you see that my sins caused the death of my crew.? They were innocent and I was guilty. You must do what is right.
Waiter: Like the Pirate Captain, you think I should turn myself in.
Old Man: You collect money for Little Rudy. He takes advantage of people. Just like the Old Woman that was here earlier.
Waiter: Yeah I do and, Little Rudy is coming tonight to get the brief case.
Old Man: I know that. He will be here in a few moments.
Waiter: What should I do?
Old man: Don’t give him the money.
(A knock on the door is heard. The Old Man disappears, and the Waiter gets up from the couch holding the briefcase. He opens the door. A small man, in a three-piece suit and slick hair, enters the apartment. It is Little Rudy.)
Waiter: Hey, Rudy.
Little Rudy: Did everyone pay up?
Waiter: Yes
Little Rudy: The Old Woman?
Waiter: Paid in full.
(After a few moments of silence, Little Rudy holds out his arm.)
Little Rudy: Well! Hand it over!
Waiter: No!
(Little Rudy pulls out a pistol.)
Little Rudy: Hand it over!
(The Old Appears. Little Rudy is frighten and starts to shoot. But the bullets do not effect the Old Man. He runs out of bullets and is shaking all over. The Old man grabs a hold of Little Rudy. He struggles and screams.)
Little Rudy: Ahhhh!!!!
(His body becomes a ball of fire. After the fire dies down, all that is left of Little Rudy is skeleton that is burnt black. The black skeleton hits the floor and turns to ashes. A police siren is heard from a distant.)
Waiter: What shall I do now?
Old Man: Wait for them.
Waiter: I can take going to jail. But the mob is going to catch up with me one day. And when they do, I will die.
Old Man: Don’t worry about that. They will never lay a hand on you.
Waiters: Thanks, Old Man. You are true friend. Will I ever see you again?
Old Man: No you will not. But remember, when your life will be in danger, I will always be there for you.
(The Old Man disappears and the Waiter is left holding the briefcase.)

The Story of the Traveling Android Scenes 7,8,&9
Scene: 7
Setting: Planet of St. Patrick and the Waiter’s apartment.
(The scene fades back to the Waiter’s apartment.)
Waiter: Tell me did you ever see the inhabitants of the planet?
Old Man: I did see them. But something else happened before I meet them.
(The scene fades back to the valleys of green sand on the Planet of St. Patrick. Old Man’s voice narrates.)
Old Man’s Voice: I spent some time on the path weeping. Then I sat on the pavement for about an hour. Still alive, I thought about survival, all I saw were valleys of green sand.
(The scene fades back and forth, as Tucker walks along the path.)
Old Man’s Voice: I also thought that the natives would soon show themselves. My mouth was dry, and my stomach was empty. Then a wind started to blow, and I had no coat. The darkness never left the planet. Time was no longer important. Finally my knees went, and I was not able to get up. Still no one came. I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
(Tucker is lying on the path and appears to be dead. The scene fades back to the apartment.)
Waiter: Did you die a physical death?
Old Man: I do not know. When I woke the planet had changed.
Scene: 8
Setting: The Planet of St. Patrick
(The scene fades back to the Planet of St. Patrick. But now it looks like a garden. Tucker is now an old man.)
Old Man’s Voice: When I woke the desert had disappeared, and it was no longer dark. The land was fertile and full of gardens. There were apple trees, orange trees, watermelon patches, and as far as I could see, corn plowed in perfect rows. I could hear a bubbling brook, and the path was no longer black rock. It was now pure gold.
(The scene fades back and forth as Tucker walks the golden path.)
Old Man’s Voice: Strange thing about it, I wasn’t hungry, thirsty, or even amazed. I put my hand on my chest and felt a beard. It was white as snow. My hair was down to my shoulders. I realized several years had passed. But I was not shocked by this discovery. When I thought about all that had taken place, I was not sad. I no longer had feelings. But I continued to walk. Never getting hungry, thirsty, or tired. The path finally ended at a rock-domed house. Beside the front door was a tombstone that said, "ENTER."
Scene 9
Setting: At a rock-doomed house on the Planet of St. Patrick and the Waiter’s apartment.
Old Man’s Voice: I walked inside the rock-doomed house, and there were several bald statues made of white marble. They were all seated in a circular formation. They did not move, and their faces had no expression. All I heard was four voices, two men and two women, and they spoke bold and with authority.
First Male Voice: On your knees!
First Female Voice: You are the guilty one!
Old Man’s Voice: I bowed.
Second Male Voice: You have lived!
Second Female Voice: But your comrades have died!
Tucker: I understand that I have wronged you, and my friends paid the price. I have lived, but I do not hunger, thirst, and I never tire. Why?
First Male Voice: Rip your shirt!
Old Man’s Voice: I did.
First Female Voice: You are no longer blood!
Second Male Voice: You are no longer flesh!
Second Female Voice: You are circuits and wires!
Old Man’s Voice: I was no longer a human, but an android. Now I understood why I never hungered, thirst, or had feelings. Then I asked the voices.
Tucker: So this is my punishment. You have taken my humanity. Now what will I do?
First Male Voice: You are programmed!
First Female Voice: To do what is right!
Second Male Voice: Return to Earth!
Second Female Voice: Tell your story!
Tucker: How will I get back?
First Male Voice: Raise you arms into the air!
First Female Voice: For you can fly!
Second Male Voice: Leave us!
Second Female Voice: We will say no more! Farwell!
(The scene shows Tucker standing to his feet and he leaves the rock-doomed house. The green sands have returned.)
Old Man’s Voice: As I stepped outside, the valleys of green sand had reappeared. Darkness was once again upon the planet. I turned around and saw the rock-doomed house sank into the green sands.
(The scene now shows Tucker raising his arms, and he ascends up into the air. The scene then fades and shows him flying in outer space.)
Old Man’s Voice: I raised my arms, and left the planet. It was not long until I was flying in the darkness of space. I really did not know where I was or which way to go.
(The scene fades back to the Waiter’s apartment.)
Waiter: You mean to tell me that you flew all the way back to Earth? How did you find your way back?
Old Man: I do not know how long I floated in space. But a time came when I ran upon a pirate ship.
To be continued.
Setting: Planet of St. Patrick and the Waiter’s apartment.

The Story of the Traveling Android Scenes 5&6
Scene 5
Place: The Planet
Setting: As the Old Man returns to his story, the scene has faded back to the tree on the Planet of St. Patrick. The two parties have returned from their explorations. Everyone is looking at the tree. The Old Man’s voice is narrating.
Old Man’s Voice: After the Captain and Science Officer Clark returned with their parties, they were all amazed by the tree and the message on the tombstone.)
Captain: Clark can you get a reading on this tree and the tombstone?
Old Man’s Voice: Science Officer Clark pulled out a scanner and waved it around the tree, and the tombstone. Then he looked down into a hand held screen.
Clark: All my data shows that this a fruit tree, just like any other fruit tree. Nothing special. It is approximately twenty years old. And the tombstone is just a rock.
Captain: That’s amazing! The tree was not here before we left, how can it be twenty years old?
Clark: May opinion is that the inhabitants on this planet have the power of illusion. We can only see what they permit us to see. The tree may have been here the whole time.
Lt. Rachel: But Captain, Crewman Tucker and myself saw the tree sprout from the ground and grow.
Clark: This may just be an illusion.
Captain: I tend to believe Science Officers Clark’s theory. Still there is the message that is written on the tombstone. This could be some type of test, to see if we can be trusted. Rachel and Clark do you agree?
Clark: Agree Captain.
Lt. Ronald: I agree sir.
Captain: It has been a long day, let’s take a eight-hour rest. I just wonder if it always dark on this planet?
Clark: Who knows, but the bright green sand gives off plenty of light.
(The scene fades and now Tucker is lying in his tent.)
Old Man’s Voice: As I lay inside my tent, I could not sleep. My mind was on that tree and the beautiful fruit it bare. The craving became more than I could take, but I laid still for several hours, making sure everyone was asleep. Finally I got up out of my tent and walked up to the tree. I placed my hand on a piece of fruit and pulled it from the branch. As I have already said, they looked like big blue berries, but felt like a banana, and tasted like a coconut that had been sweetened. I had never tasted anything so good, and ate three more. Then I ran back to my tent...
(The Waiter interrupts, and the scene goes back to the apartment)
Waiter: And by eating the fruit, your body became an android.
Old Man: Please, you are jumping ahead, for there is much more to this story.
Waiter: Excuse me sir, I just got excited, please continue.
Scene 6
(The scene goes back to the Planet of St. Patrick.)
Old Man’s Voice: The next morning, I crawled out my tent and found that everyone was up. They all stood motionless around the tree. When I saw what had happened, fear ran through my veins. The leaves and fruit were gone. The branches were bare. When I got a closer look, I saw the tree had rotted. Then I noticed the tombstone had a new message. BEWARE! THE FRUIT HAS BEEN PULLED! THE GUILTY ONE MUST PAY! Finally the Captain spoke out.
Captain: Who is the guilty one?
Old Man: Everyone was quite. Then Captain pulled the pistol from his side.
Captain: I want the guilty one to come forward! If not, you all under arrest.
Clark: Captain, how do we know it wasn’t you that pulled the fruit?
Captain: How I dare you!
Clark: What is the difference? You blame one of us!
Lt. Racel: Please! Stop this! It is best we go back to the ship and leave this planet.
Clark: I agree
Old Man‘s Voice: Before anything else was said, a new message appeared on the tombstone. THE GUILTY ONES HANDS WILL BE BLUE! I looked at the palms of my hands and they had been stained blue by the fruit. When I looked up, all eyes were upon me.
Lt. Racel: Oh! Tucker how could you have done this?
Tucker: I don’t know what made me do it.
Captain: Tucker! You have put the lives of your crew in great danger. When we return to the ship, you will be put in a holding cell. When we get back to Earth, you will face the military court.
Tucker: Yes sir.
Clark: Captain, Lt. Racelis right. We should leave this place as soon as possible.
Captain: I agree, okay everyone. Back to the ship.
Old Man‘s Voice: After everything was packed and we were about to leave. Another message appeared on the tombstone. THE GUILTY ONE STAYS! THE OTHERS DEPART!
Lt. Rachel: Captain no! We cannot leave Tucker here.
Clark: Captain, we do not know the powers of these beings. It’s best one die instead of the whole crew.
Captain: I agree.
Old Man‘s Voice: Lt.Racel embraced me and cried. My fellow’s crewmembers patted me on the back. The Captain and Science Officer Clark did not say a word. I watched them, until they were completely out of sight. When I was all-alone the message on the tombstone changed again. It only said, WALK!
(Show’s Tucker walking down the path as he tells the story. The scene fades and come back.)
Old Man: So I began to walk down the path made of black stone. It wasn’t long until I saw the ship in the sky, leaving the planet. Then something happen that made me fall to the ground and weep. The ship exploded. The Captain, the woman I loved, and my fellow crewmembers were dead. I was the only one who lived, the guilty one.

The Story of the Traveling Android Scenes 3 & 4
Scene3
Setting: The Waiter’s apartment and the Planet of St. Patrick.
(The two are now sitting at table in a dimly lighted apartment. The Waiter has taken off his jacket and it is placed on the back of his seat. In front of him are a dish and a glass.)
Waiter: Well sir, I have eaten. Please tell me, the rest of your story.
(The scene fades to the surface of the green planet. It is dark, and the shadow of eight people can be seen.)
Old Man’s Voice: We began to walk upon the valleys of green sand. There appeared to be no sign of life, and then we discovered a path made with black rock.
Lt. Rachel: (she bends down and put her hands on the path.) Well we are not the first to come this planet. And I must say that intelligent life has been here. The masonry work on this path is top notch. I wonder where it leads?
Captain: That’s what I want to find out. We will spilt into two groups. Lumm and Starr will come with me. Becker, Ellis and Ricks, I want you three to go with Officer Clark.
All Crewmembers: Yes Sir!
Captain: Lt. Rachel, you and Tucker will stay here and set up camp. Both parties return back to camp in thirteen hundred hours.
(The groups depart, Tucker has a happy expression on his face, The scene fades.)
Old Man’s voice: Lt. Rachel and I were very happy to get this opportunity to be alone.
(The scene shows the camp set up, Tucker and Lt. Rachel are embracing.)
Lt: Rachel: Darling I am so happy that the Captain has given us this chance to be alone. I think he knows.
Tucker: Oh! I am sure everyone knows and understands. When a ship spends months in space and the opposite sex is aboard,(pause) well things like this will happen.
Old Man’s Voice: As we began to kiss, I closed my eyes, and thinking how wonderful it was to be in love. When I opened my eyes, something strange was appearing. I looked for a few moments, then I let go of Lt. Rachel.)
Tucker: I... can’t believe my eyes... a tree is growing before us.
Old Man’s Voice: We stood and watched the small tree break through the green sand. It grew very fast, and yellow leaves started to appear. Blue flowers started to bloom, and large light blue berries were formed.
Tucker: This is amazing!
Lt. Rachel: It is beautiful!
Tucker: Isn’t it strange, that this tree full of fruit has appeared, right where were are standing.
Lt. Rachel: I agree it is strange. But it may be the way the natives of this planet say, "Welcome." Go get up some of the fruit.
Tucker: Sure
Old Man’s Voice: As I was about to pull the fruit from the tree, Lt. Rachel yelled.
Lt. Rachel: Don’t! Something else is happening. Just Look!
Old Man’s Voice: I look down ,and a gray tombstone was coming up out of the sand.
I stepped back and a message was on the tombstone, "DO NOT EAT."

Scene 4
Setting: The Waiter’s apartment
( The scene of the Old Man’s Story fades back to the Waiter’s apartment. The story has stopped because a knock is heard at the door.)
Waiter: Excuse me, for just a moment.
(He stands up and walks to the door. After he holds open the door, an Old Women walks in.)
Waiter: Well I hope you have all the money this time. You know what Little Rudy is going to do if you don’t.
Old Woman: Here it is.
(She pulls a brown bag from her coat. The waiter takes it and reaches his hand down into it. He pulls out a wad of money, and takes a few minutes to count it.)
Waiter: You are three hundred dollars short. Little Rudy said no more extra time. Your grandson’s fingers will be removed.
Old Woman: Oh! Please don’t! Here is my wedding ring. It is pure gold, and here is may late husband’s watch. And wait!
(She reaches into her coat a second time and pulls out two silver spoons.)
Old Woman: Please! Oh! Please! If not that’s enough, cut my fingers. For I am the one at fault.
(The Old Woman is startled as the Old Man approaches. He takes a look at the valuables that she has given the Waiter.)
Old Man: I would say that all this stuff is worth two hundred dollars. So that would make her short one hundred. Is that correct?
Waiter: Yes sir.
(The Old Man pulls a hundred-dollar bill from his pocket.)
Old Man: Good Lady, I will pay your debt on one condition.
Old Woman: What do you want from me, sir?
Old Man: Promise that you will never gamble again.
Old Woman: Oh! Believe you me, I have learnt my lesson. But I must ask, good sir. Who are you?
Old Man: I am one who helps those who can be helped. My name is not important. Now, leave this place and never return.
Old Woman: Good-by.
(She leaves the apartment crying. The waiter puts the money and valuables in a briefcase that is lying on the couch. He takes a seat on the couch and the Old Man is now setting in a chair.)
Waiter: Thanks for helping that woman. Little Rudy is coming tonight, to pick up the money .
Old Man: I know that and that is why I am here.
Waiter: You mean to tell me that you know who Little Rudy is?
Old Man: Yes I do. I know all about those who are part of your life. I have watched you for sometime. I knew the Old Woman would be here this very night. I was here to help her, because she could be helped. You can be helped too, and I will if you will let me.
Waiter: How can you help me?
Old Man: I tell my story to those who need to hear it and you do.
Waiter: Please continue with your story.

Old Man’s Voice: It was long ago, before colony stations were built in space. I was a young man, who was a crewmember of an exploration ship. We came across a planet of extreme beauty. It was bright green and it glowed in space. My Captain named the planet St. Patrick.
(As the Old Man speaks, the ship lands upon the planet’s green surface. Then the scene goes inside the ship’s conference room. The room is filled with men, who are wearing shiny uniforms of blue and yellow.)
Old Man’s Voice: After the ship landed on the planet’s surface, The Captain called all the crew to the conference room.

Old Mans Voice: She was a very beautiful woman I might add.
Captain: ... Science Officer Clark. Six Crewmembers, Lumm, Starr, Becker, Ricks, Ellis, and...
Old Mans Voice: My heart was pumping fast as the Captain called out the sixth name.
Captain: ... Tucker.

Waiter: Thanks, I really want to hear your story.

kat swift Seeks City Council Seat
In past Presidential Elections, we have seen Vice Presidential candidates also run for another office. Examples Lyndon Johnson who ran for re-election to his U.S. Senate seat in 1960. This was the same for Lloyd Benson in 1988, and Joe Lieberman in 2000. However I have never known of a candidate for President also run for a city council seat. It seems kat swift has made history. She is seeking the Green Party’s nomination for President, but now is running for city council in San Antonio’s 1st District.
Even though I don’t agree with kat swift supporter, I will admit she is an interesting candidate. San Antonio’s city election will be held May 10th, which means that this race will no interfere with her presidential campaign.
However kat remains an underdog. She has only a few hundred dollars, her opponent several thousand. For this I do admire her for willingness to make a stand against incredible odds.

My Tibute To Coleridge and the Ancient Mariner
This poem is a combination of the last two a tribute to my favorite poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and a sonnet about the sea.
My Tribute to Coleridge and the Ancient Mariner
From the ship he shot the great albatross,
His purpose for this we will never know.
But his mistake his shipmate’s life lost,
Yet he was cursed to journey to and fro.
Telling of the strange tragedy at sea,
Miles from his home in land of crystal ice.
A sin committed his life never free,
He transformed to become wise and nice.
This epic they say if full of symbol,
Like when Adam ate from the sinner’s tree.
When we think of our sins we should tremble,
Yet we can be spared by the savior’s creed.
The old mariner journeyed on a great quest,
And touched the heart of a wedding guest.

Decker's Interview with kat swift Part 2
I saw that you worked in an organization called Clean Money San Antonio. Can you tell me more about the organization and your accomplishments there? (there were three articles from 2001 in the San Antonio paper, but they wanted me to pay for them). Co coordinator. Goal to get financial reforms in elections systems. Contribution and spending limits. Now, the more money you have the more voice you have. Helps those without the money to be competitive with those who do have the means and connections. Level the playing field. SA does have contribution limit. No public funding of campaign. Federal does this. Open access to government to everyone.
You are involved in the Bexar County, Texas and National Green Party levels. You are the co-chair for the Texas Green Party and the Public Relations person for the Women’s Caucus of the Green Party. How do these roles help you in your bid for the presidency? Elected party official at all three levels. In order to get the nomination, you have to court the party membership. Every party works that way. Having served as an elected official, I’ve been in front of everyone and they know and have seen me. Have developed and opinion of me. If I hadn’t been active in the party they would not know me.
What is the most misunderstood thing about the Green Party in your opinion?
We are responsible for the Dems loosing the elections of 200) and 2004
Solely and environmental party.
What is the most misunderstood thing about Kat Swift?
Good question. My physical outward appearance doesn’t necessarily reflect my abilities and confidence level. Very eccentrics in outward appearance. Dread locks. Dress strangely. Funky clothes and hair. This is stuff that people can use against me. Stop discriminating based on the way people look. Labels are harsh for candidates.
If a political advisor asked to get rid of dreadlocks, would you get rid of them? Haven’t decided. Knows that appearance means things. Must be nominated first. Goal for hair. Hair is a spiritual journey. If that coincides with nomination, good. If not, I’ll decide whether to make that compromise
Do you agree with all 10 key values of the national Green Party? Do you accept the entire platform as your own? Any personal disagreements with the national party platform?
War issues that need to be worded better. The value about feminism/gender has controversy. Personal opinion for people that doe not understand what feminism means. Gender equity. Egalitarianism. Equal voice to women. No equal rights amendment. 33 years old and no ERA. Hair is part of this. Women and Men to be treated equally. All have equal voice. Oct 2006 – status of women in this world Report. Woman’s rights and sexual slavery. People have to stand up for those who are oppressed.
When did you know that you would be an activist kind of person? Can you give me an example of that experience or an experience that got you on this track?
1999 – 26 years old. Cross roads training point in my life. Friends in Canada had asked to do some research at some forums. Started to become non apathetic. I had an impact on my friends so I could go to the forums. I could ask others questions for them. I look back on that and saw a difference and then the laws were changed. Asked about legalization of marijuana for medical purposes. Been struggling to make more changes every since.
I see the local Bexar Green Party hosts general information meetings and has guest speakers from a wide variety of backgrounds. The Green Party in Texas at least seems very "grass roots" in nature. Is that key to the Green cause?
Monthly meetings of the Party. Has a movie night sometimes. Local film makers. Controversial figures. Grass roots is a key value. Know must have organizational structure. State and national organization because we have to. Want local participation. When you try to practice grassroots you run into barriers.
What would you do during your first 100 days in office as President Kat Swift? How would your 3rd party status help or hurt you in your agenda for the country?
Big Party. Society will have changed and citizens are making choices about their government. It would be something to celebrate.
Evaluate all the facets under control of the president. Go to every departments and talk to the people and find out what they need and want to do their jobs better. I’ve been on the low end of the business world before, so I know if you want to reorganize, you have to talk to the workers. What is needed to do that. Bring in really good people to audit. Make it more transparent. Implement changes. Support good things and stop the bad things.
Stop the war in Iraq and stop perpetuating war. Peace keepers in middle east. Idea out there that the person that brings peace to the Middle East will be the Anti-Christ. Wonder if that is why people do fix the middle east.
Convict people of war crimes. Join the international criminal court. Bush and Chaney.
Pardon people on death row –
National moratorium on death penalty.
100 years from now, how would you like to be remembered?
Youngest woman who was elected president. First Woman and Youngest President. That I changed the world. Achieved true democracy. Further civilization. Stopped religious in fighting. The person that made that change.
TXU – corporate profiteers. Minor different when sold. Looked at as a win. Arrangement not yet in writing. Same thing happened in natural gas market and with nuclear energy. Texas is one the dirtiest states. Texas Tech has a method to burn trash for energy. Solar new technology. Enough wind, but need more transmission lines. Digging up the coal is just as bad as burning it. Fully support the moratorium on coal plants. Need and EPA with sharp teeth
