Doug Hoffman for Congress
Almost five years ago, I started my blog, “The Shamgar Report.” One of my main goals was to help promote third party candidates. Since then I have recognized many underdogs, even if I didn’t support their candidacy. After being a Republican loyalist for many years, I came to the conclusion that it was time to look at candidates outside the establishment.
Presently there is a third party candidate who is getting a lot of recognition. Doug Hoffman is running as the Conservative Party candidate for Representative from New York’s 23rd House district. Even with a Republican in the race, Hoffman is getting endorsement form many influential people within the Republican Party. So it now seems that many people who are inside the establishment are looking outside the system for other alternatives.
I will admit that Hoffman’s chances of victory are slim, but his candidacy has brought has opened the eyes of many Republican loyalist. Standing for principle is more important than partisan victories. It is refreshing to see that a few Republican leaders now feel the same way.

Quisp and Quake Cereal
These two cereals were made by Quaker Oats in 60’s and 70’s. The commercials had both products competing against each other. It was a very unique marketing concept.

Glenn Beck's Red Phone
Last week Glenn Beck installed a red phone on his television show. White House communications director Anita Dunn is the only one who has the red phone’s number. Mr. Beck has stated that if he has said anything wrong concerning the Obama Administration, she is welcomed to call and to correct him on air.
We know, in the past that the White House has watched Glenn Beck. Recently they did called, and asked Mr. Beck not to use the term “czar.” Now he has publicly reach out to the Obama administration, but they remain silent. During the election Obama said he would be a President who would reach out to everyone. This now seems to be just another broken promise from another partisan politician.
Since Anita Dunn is a fan of the writings of Mao Tse Tung, you would think she would find Mr. Beck’s red phone very appealing.

Thomas Paine and the Judge Gideon
Recently I wrote an article where I talked how Thomas Paine made reference to the prophet Samuel in his book “Common Sense.” In the same chapter titled, “Of Monarchy and Hereditary Succession,” he makes mention of the judge Gideon.
The story of Gideon is told in Judges, chapters 6-8. After the Midianites and Amalekites were defeated ,with only 300 men, Israel wanted Gideon and his sons to become their rulers. Gideon declined the offer. He knew that God gave them the victory and was the only true king.
Gideon served as a judge, not as a king. In Moses’ time, God had given the children of Israel the Law, and everyone was subject to it, regardless of class. When a dispute would take place, both parties would go to the judge, and he would make his decision based to the Law. This was not a theocracy which some claim that I support. The priesthood was not set up to rule Israel, but to be the intercessor between God and Israel.
It was very fortunate for Israel that Gideon turned down their offer. He had seventy sons, one was named Abimelech whose mother was from Shecem. Abimelech was a bloody butcher who killed all his half-brothers but one. Only Jotham, Gideon’s youngest son escaped the massager. The people of Shecem made him king and he enslaved Israel for three bloody years. Finally God brought forth his wrath by putting strife between the Shecemites and Abimelech’s men. The city of Shecem was destroyed. Afterwards an old woman busted Abimelech's skull with a piece of millstone. He then ordered his assistant to slay him, so people would not say that an old woman killed him. Israel was free again, and a man named Tola served as Israel's judge.
Thomas Paine went on to write that Israel for a time had learned their lesson about having a king. Then as we already know that in Samuel's day they started asking God for a human king once again. In the future I plan to write more about the book of Judges, and also write about the difference between patriots and loyalist.

Thomas Paine and the Prophet Samuel
This past April I wrote an article titled, “How America Is Truly Divided.” In this post I discussed the difference between patriots and loyalist. Patriots support a government where men have rights and come together to form a government bound by law. Loyalist look for human leadership, and follow their leaders blindly.
(The following two paragraphs are taken from my article back in April.)
Very few people learn from history, but our Founding Fathers did. In the book of I Samuel, Israel desired a human king. Samuel pleaded with the people, but they would not listen. The children of Israel wanted to be just like other nations. God gave into their demands, and gave them human kings. In time these kings caused the nation to be divided into, and later both kingdoms fell into captivity.
I truly believe our Founding Fathers believed in the Bible. Proof is found in the Declaration of Independence which explains that we are born with certain rights given to us be our Creator. Ancient Israel gave up this right, in order to be like other nations. If they had listen to Samuel, history would have taken a different course. Free nations would have existed long before the meeting at Independence Hall. Our Founding Fathers learned from Israel's mistake.
Of course the loyalist left their objections to what was written above. One loon stated that once I build character I will realize that I am wrong. Well the other day I read “Common Sense,” by Thomas Paine. To my surprise he mentioned the story of Samuel opposing a king in a chapter titled, “Of Monarchy and Hereditary Succession.” So I guess this proves that some of Founding Fathers believed in God, and that honored him as the true king.
Another loon said that Samuel lived in backward days. Well it was during these backward days that kings came about, along with these backwards people who followed them blindly. Thomas Paine also made mention of this in the same chapter
Loyalist today wish for us to be like every other nation in the world. They desire socialism like the nations of Europe. Also they are just like those in China and Cuba who followed Mao Tse-tung and Castro blindly. Read “Common Sense,” by Thomas Paine, and you will discover the values of our Founding Fathers.
