All my life I have heard the Republicans are horrible and Democrats are wonderful. However I always ask myself if Democrats are so wonderful why do they lose elections? Also if they are so great, why don’t we have a one party system in the United States?
One example is Franklin D. Roosevelt who was elected to four terms. As a kid I was always heard how wonderful he was, and how he saved the world. Once again, if FDR was so wonderful, why were terms limits set on the office of President shortly after his death?
Today I hear how wonderful Bill Clinton was, and how the economy boomed. Yet they fell to mention how the economy sank his last six months in office. Then again I ask if Bill Clinton was so great, why did the Republicans gain a majority in both houses two years after he took office?
In 2008, we were told how great Obama was, and that he could not fail. Anyone who spoke out against him was called stupid. Once again if Obama is so great, why did the Republicans do so well in 2010? An example, my home state of Arkansas. Republicans rarely win in this state. However in 2010, Republicans won a Senate seat, three Congressional districts, and three state-wide offices.
In my lifetime, the Republican party has been declared dead on three different occasions. This was stated after the victories of Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barak Obama. Of course this was not the case. Then again these are the same people who call everyone else stupid.
No one political party or President is to blame for our present state. In reality there is enough blame to go around. Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush did not cause all the problems we have in this world.
Once again I ask if Democrats are so great, why do they lose elections?
